From building challenges to cooking basics, kids discover new abilities while making friends. Here’s a sample of what your child might experience this season:

  • Illustration of a market stand with a striped awning, featuring a bowl of eggs, a bottle, and a glass on a green background.

    Young Entrepreneurs

Kids develop actual products, calculate real prices, and run their own pop-up shops using play money. In the morning, they'll interview each other about problems that need solving, then build solutions from simple materials. By afternoon, they're creating business cards, designing logos, and learning what makes people want to buy something. Your kitchen table might become a store counter for weeks afterward – fair warning.

  • Illustration of a pair of orange scissors, a gold and white crown, and a piece of green fabric with white stitching on a dark green background.

    Costume Creators

Transform paper bags and everyday materials into wearable stories. Kids discover how costume designers help actors become different people, building character from the outside in. Morning brings construction and problem-solving (how do you make a paper bag look like armor?). Afternoon adds performance, as kids bring their characters to life through mini-plays. They'll come home understanding that clothes tell stories, and they'll probably raid your closet with new eyes.

  • Illustration of a chemistry flask with bubbling liquid, a chef's hat, and a slice of cheese, on a dark green background.

    Kitchen Chemistry

Science you can eat. Kids explore chemical reactions through safe kitchen experiments – creating volcanoes that fizz, "oobleck" that's both solid and liquid, and crystals that grow before their eyes. The afternoon shift focuses on nutrition science, as kids design and create healthy snacks while learning what makes food work in our bodies. They'll understand why bread rises, what makes things dissolve, and how to read ingredient labels with detective eyes.

  • Illustration of a house, a tree, and a solar panel with a sun in the sky, representative of renewable energy and eco-friendly living.

    City Builders

What if kids could redesign Newburgh? Friday morning, they work in teams to build an eco-friendly city that actually functions – with transportation systems, green spaces, and renewable energy solutions. After lunch, each child tackles the tiny house challenge, discovering how small spaces can be mighty and how constraints lead to creative breakthroughs. They'll go home looking at their own neighborhood differently, noticing things like water drainage and bike lanes.

  • Minimalist illustration of a potted plant with three green leaves on a dark green background.

    Garden to Table

Seeds become possibility. Kids plant actual gardens (even in small containers), learning what plants need and how food grows. They'll discover that you don't need a yard to grow vegetables – a windowsill works fine. The afternoon transforms into an herbalist workshop where kids make useful products: herb salts for cooking, seed paper for planting, and natural air fresheners. They'll leave knowing that plants offer more than just food, carrying home their own small garden to tend.

How We Learn Together at Kinship

Movement Powers Learning

Bodies in motion create minds in motion. Math happens while building. Science becomes something you can taste. Stories come alive through whole-body play.

Real Community, Real Teachers

Your neighbors share their expertise:

  • The local beekeeper teaches patience

  • The chef demonstrates knife skills

  • The retired engineer explains how bridges work

These connections happen everywhere—in classes, at community dinners, and during special events.

Mixed Ages, Better Learning

We intentionally mix kids ages 5-10 because magic happens:

  • Older kids teach and solidify their knowledge

  • Younger ones see what's possible

  • Everyone learns that great ideas come from anywhere

Kids Create Real Things

Every program includes making something tangible:

  • Working circuits

  • Hand-bound books

  • Meals to share

These creations give kids pride and proof of what they can do.

Questions > Answers

We teach kids to ask:

  • "What if?"

  • "How come?"

  • "What else?"

Every experience becomes a chance for discovery.

Small Groups, Real Relationships

  • 10-12 kids per class

  • Intimate family events

  • Community celebrations where everyone belongs

Each child is known, valued, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

These principles shape everything we do—from morning classes to evening events, from workshops to community gatherings.
